Grocery Coupons: Maximizing The Benefits
The first thing we will discuss is size. You will want to purchase the smallest size of the item that you need, avoid buying the larger size just because it might offers a slightly better overall savings, because the goal of using coupons is to keep the total of the grocery bill lower.
Only use coupons on items that you would have otherwise purchased. Avoid purchasing items just because of the coupon. However if the coupon is so special and such a great savings and you feel you are interested in trying the product, then sometimes you can just go for it.
If you are not a brand specific person, then bring all your coupons along with you. You never know what brand will already be at a sale price, then applying your coupon makes it an even better value.
Always look for stores that will double or even triple the coupons. Believe it or not, there are stores that will double up or even triple up your coupon (example a coupon for .25 would go to .50 ot .75). However always look at the starting price, just because a coupon is doubled does not mean you are getting the best deal, if that store has a high price to begin with.
If a coupon requires a larger purchase, you should first consider the value of your coupon. If the coupon value is great enough to warrant the large quantity purchase, then that is OK. Otherwise skip on the purchase.
In general always take into account what you need, what you are willing to spend and stay within your budget. Happy deal hunting!
